Some personal information "Matthijs Bogaards, despite what many believe, was not born in a windmill and never wore wooden shoes, not even as a child. He did grow up in the polder, though, surrounded by dikes. In the year that he wanted to study political science in Rotterdam, they closed down the department, so he decided to do his undergraduate studies in Leiden. This turned out to be not so bad after all. Since 1995, Matthijs Bogaards has been living abroad. In fact, he has lived in several countries (Hungary, India, Italy, UK, and the USA) and recently has been spending an increasing amount of time in Romania. On the rare occasion that he is not in his office, he is most likely at home. What he does there is nobody's business."
