Four For Krupp
Krupp College started into the new semester with a big formal "Welcome Back" dinner, during which College Masters Klaus and Isabelle proudly presented four great news for Krupp College.
With the help of many volunteers, first and foremost Tanja Deisler and Katsia Pabortsava, the team established a party area in the basement. The new Krupp Party Zone is something the Jacobs Campus has long been missing: An area that allows people to have a small party relatively spontaneously. The area consists of two rooms, one for dancing and one for chilling, and is equipped with a sound system, disco lights, a bar and sofas. Tremendous effort has been put into the artwork, which is a combination of graffiti and painting.
The party zone can be booked through this website and has proven so popular that strangely another college has had the idea to create a party room on the day we opened ours… funny how great minds think alike. [The booking policy has been revised - bookings must now be made by sending an e-mail to the RA on duty.]
The second exciting innovation is the Krupp Media Room. Over the intersession, College Office Manager René and the team revamped the old TV room. It now features a brand new widescreen beamer that is hooked up to a DVD player and a Pay TV receiver. There is a VGA cable so laptops can easily be hooked up and a powerful sound system.
New carpets, pillows and beanbags allow people to relax on the floor while watching a movie (sofas are also available). Finally, the old TV is still there, so you can easily watch all channels broadcast in Jacobs' cable network.
Krupp College is proud to welcome five honorary members into the Krupp community. Honorary membership is a program developed to establish closer links between faculty, staff and students. During the "Krupp returns" dinner, Matthijs Bogaards, Professor of Political Science, Matthias Ullrich, Professor of Microbiology and Marie Vivas, Director of Admissions swore the Krupp pledge and got officially Kruppified. Honorary membership was also awarded to Jens Froese, Professor of Maritime Logistics, and Michael Bau, Professor of Geoscience, who were unable to attend and will be Kruppified later.
The final innovation is what you are looking at right now: The brand new Krupp website. At the dinner we could not quite present it yet because our former webhosting provider had technical difficulties, but now it is finally here to complete the "Four For Krupp".
