Deepawali
This year's Deepawali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, was celebrated on the 9th of November. This festival honors the victory of good over evil when Lord Rama conquered Ravana - like Krupp Chili Spirit over the full-of-hot-air CIII Dragons. Krupp College was decorated with lights and candles to honor the day.
The celebration started with many curious people participating in traditional handcraft Indian and Nepali workshops, such as Henna, skin painting and Battikathi, cotton-spinning offerings to the Gods.
There was also pottery and meditation practice to be enjoyed. Following the workshops were cultural events of dancing, storytelling, and Bhajan singing.
Finally, the main event, which attracted hordes of hungry students from all over Jacobs, was a feast of delicious and 'yummy' Indian and Nepali food! There were numerous curries ranging from Mercator-mild to Kruppie Chili hot. Literally hundreds of people lined up to enjoy the homemade culinary delights from across the Asian sub-continent.
As every year, this year was bigger and better than ever, and next year, Krupp may well need to build a new wing to host this most festive Festival of Lights.
